This incredibly scenic ride starts in the Andean highlands around Chinchero (3727m) and ends beside the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We cycle amid traditional Andean communities where the way of life has changed very little since the Spanish arrived nearly 500 years ago.

Este pintoresco viaje comienza en las alturas de los Andes, cerca del pueblo de Chinchero (3272m) y termina al lado del rio Urubamba, en le Valle Sagrado de los Incas. Manejamos por comunidades Andinas muy tradicionales, donde la forma de vida ha cambiado muy poco desde la llegada de los españoles a estas tierras, hace casi 500 años.

Initially, the ride starts on a dirt road with sections of llama track and then progresses to pure llama track. This gives plenty of opportunities for those who wish to play on the more technical parts, while others can cruise through the easier lines.

Comenzamos, la ruta arranca en camino de tierra, con algunas secciones de camino de herradura, para luego andar solo por el camino de herradura. Esto da la oportunidad para aquellos que desean jugar en las partes mas tecnicas, mientras que quienes desean pueden andar l por las lineas mas faciles.

During the ride we have phenomenal views of the Urubamba mountain range including the Chicon glacier and the snow-capped peak of Mount Veronica (5682m). We have lunch near the other-worldy Moray ruins with the option of visiting (entrance not included). After our sumptuous buffet lunch, we ride to the town of Maras, famous in Incan times for the quality of its spies!!

Durante el camino tenemos las mas espectaculares vistas de la cordillera del Urubamba, incluyendo el glaciar Chicon, y del nevado Veronica (5682m).  Tomamos el almuerzo cerca de de las ruinas de Moray con la opcion de visitar dichas ruinas (entrada no incluida). Despues de nuestro almuerzo buffet, nos vamos camino a Maras, famoso en el tiempo de los Incas por la calidad de sus espias!!

From here we have an awesome downhill to the pre-Incan Salineras (salt mines) and then to the valley floor. We finish the ride in a bar on the banks of the Urubamba river, where we have time to review the incredible photos from the day whilst we sip some cold ones (first one on us).

Desde aqui tenemos un asombroso descenso hacia las Salineras pre incas y despues hasta el fondo del Valle. Terminamos nuestra aventura en un bar a orillas del rio Urubamba, donde tendremos un tiempo para hacer una revision de las increibles fotos del dia, al mismo tiempo que disfrutamos de una cerveza fria (la primera es por nuestra cuenta) 

We then have the option of returning to Cusco or continuing on to the beautiful town of Ollantaytambo.

Luego tenemos la opcion de retornar a Cusco o de continuar hacia el hermoso pueblo de Ollantaytambo.

THE DAY IN MORE DETAIL:

• Pick up at 8 am from our sales office in the centre of Cusco
• Recojo a las 8:00 am de nuestra oficina de ventas en el centro de Cusco
• We drive to the start of the ride near Chinchero (3727m) with beautiful views of the famous Laguna Huaypo.
• Vamos en transporte hasta nuestro punto de inicio cerca de Chinchero (3727m) con una hermosa vista de la famosa Laguna de Huaypo.
• At 9 am we unload the bikes and get kitted up
• A las 9 am descargamos nuestras bicis y nos preparamos.
• We set off at about 9:30 am after our fully qualified guides have given an extensive briefing on safety and riding techniques to ensure we all enjoy the ride to the utmost
• Partimos aproximadamente a las 9:30 am, despues que nuestros expertos guias nos dieron una charla acerca de tecnicas de manejo y seguridad para asegurarnos de disfrutar de nuestra aventura al maximo.
• As we descend, we will have frequent stops to enjoy the spectacular views and also eat the snacks & water that are included
• A medida que descendemos, tendremos varias paradas en el camino para disfrutar de la espectacular vista y tambien para comer unos snacks y tomar agua, ambos incluidos.
• Riding down dirt tracks we get the opportunity to practise the riding techniques our guides have explained. They’ll be close on hand to keep advising and helping us
• Bajando por los cainos de tierra tendremos la oportunidad de poner en practica las tecnicas que nestros guias nos explicaron al comenzar, ellos estaran siempre cerca para darnos una mano en caso necesitemos su ayuda.
• After a pleasant morning of mainly downhill biking (but with the odd section of uphill to ensure our lungs are still working) we stop for lunch near the other-worldy Incan ruins of Moray. Those who wish can cycle over and explore these space ship style ruins (Entrance not included) 
• Despues de una palcentera mañana bajando por los diferentes caminos ( pero siempre con algunas secciones de subidas, para asegurarnos que nuestros pulmones aun estan ahi...) Paramos para almorzar cerca de los restos arqueologicos de Moray. Aquellos que lo deseen pueden andar por el lugar y explorar estas peculiares ruinas.
• Once we´ve finished the delicious buffet lunch, we continue to explore the surrounding countryside and its historic places, still enjoying what can only be described as the most stunning scenery
• Una vez que terminamos nuestro almuerzo buffet, continuamos  explorando los alrededores y lugares historicos, y disfrutando de lo que solo podemos describir como los paisjes mas impresionantes.
• As we enter the last third of the ride, there is the opportunity to play on the more technical parts whilst the others can cruise through the easy lines
• Al entrar en la tercera etapa de nuestro viaje, tendremos la oportunidad de jugar en las partes tecnicas , mientras que otros pueden andar por las lineas mas faciles
• Before long we spot the pre-Incan Salineras salt mines (Bike Asalt – get it?!). Once we’ve descended down to the entrance, we have a guided tour of this spectacular site (entrance included)
• Al poco tiempo se llegan a ver las Salineras de Maras (Bike Asalt - lo entienden?!). Una vez que bajamos hasta la entrada, tenemos un tour guiado por este lugar tan espectacular (entrada incluida)
• We then ride down the last small technical section of the path to the famous Urubamba River where cold beers and hot showers are awaiting us
• Luego manejamos cuesta abajo en la ultima seccion tecnica de la ruta, en camino al  famoso rio Urubamba, donde nos esperan unas cervezas frias y una ducha caliente. 
• Whilst the guides load the bikes, you get the opportunity to have a couple of cold ones (the first one is on us!) and check out the photos the guides took during the day.
• Mientras nuestros guias cargan las bicicletas en el bus, tenemos la oportunidad de tomar un par de cervezas frias ( la primera va por nosotros) y ver algunas de las fotos que nuestros guias nos tomaron en el camino.

O regresar a Cusco con nosotros (aprox 1½ hora en auto) y llegar a tiempo para cambiarse y alistarse para pasar una noche en el centro de la ciudad, con buena musica y mucha diversion para subirnos el animo!!
